Sheringham Distillery Akvavit

A traditional Nordic spirit of tranquil unsung fortitude.

Committed to localism, quality & sustainability.

Sheringham Distillery was founded in 2015 by husband and wife Jason and Alayne MacIsaac. Jason had spent the previous 15 years as a globetrotting professional and private chef working all throughout North America, Asia and the Middle East. He brings an incredible palate of flavours and taste profiles to our spirits.

Currently Sheringham offers two gins for the marketplace, the world’s best Seaside Gin, as well as the Asian inspired Kazuki Gin. Both gins are uniquely flavoured and can either be savoured in any gin cocktail, or simply sipped neat/over ice, to truly appreciate and understand their well-balanced flavours.

Our spirits have won a multitude of international awards. The largest and most important to date is the World’s Best Contemporary Gin at the 2019 World Gin Awards in London, UK for our flagship Seaside Gin. There we competed in the Best Contemporary Gin category (largest and most challenging category) and beat 246 other gins from around the world, from 25 different countries, over four rounds.
In February 2020, our Kazuki Gin won Canada’s Best Artisan Spirit (Best in Show) at the 2020 CASC Awards in Vancouver, BC.

What makes our Seaside Gin unique? To put it simply it’s a unique combination of the following: premium dried botanicals including wild rose petals, lavender, lemon and orange peel and juniper berries, a uniquely shaped bottle and branding, and one secret ingredient from the Pacific Ocean, Alaria marginata, also known as winged kelp seaweed. The kelp grows up to 12 meters long and is sustainably harvested by a local, licensed marine biologist. The seaweed is dried, and a small amount is added to the final of three distillations. The result is a tiny amount of brininess on your tongue, accentuating and enhancing the botanicals’ flavors as they dance on your palate.
Our Kazuki Gin is made with dried cherry blossom petals and yuzu peel, both imported from Kyoto, Japan as well as green tea leaves and flowers from Canada’s only tea farm, Westholme Tea Farm, on Vancouver Island, BC. The combination is an amazingly clean tasting, citrus forward gin with a creamy and velvety finish due to the essential oils from the cherry blossom and tea flowers.
