As another year is coming to an end, as we have all struggled and scurried trying to prepare for yet another busy Holiday Season – I wanted to take a few moments just to reflect and say thanks to several people that have made 2019 a very exciting year for me.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever imagined getting Whisky Quarterly Ontario to where it sits now, let alone the things we’re working on bringing to market in 2020. It has been a wild ride of two years working alongside the LCBO from the quarterly rotations, to validating our upcoming model.

I am thrilled that WQO now shares a place for 280+ people to get together and share articles, laughs and their love of good whisky with one another.

I’m fortunate for colleagues, who I can call friends, that have endured my rambles and ambitions for the past few years: Adam, Mark, Stacey, Kris, Sean, Will, Karishma, Vince, Angelos and countless others that have had long conversations with about the direction of WQO!

To industry professionals like Spencer who I have had the good fortune to work with on some events and that I look forward to working with more closely in the coming years.

To Nick of Cascade Street Distillery and Steve from Ironclad Distillery, who were the first distillers who saw what I am building and helped trigger my AGCO license for import – And to them, I am so excited to be working with them and bringing their spirits to Ontario.

Last, but far from least, to my loving and supportive wife, Katrina and my two boys. They are a source of boundless love and support and on the long, long, long days of model development, website work, blogging and the many, many other things I have been driving towards in the past few years – Thank you for being a divining rod through it all.

There is much to be done, many more conversations to be had and a lot more work on the road ahead of building Whisky Quarterly Ontario into a great place to explore and enjoy craft spirits. I’m thrilled to be at the cusp of it all and look forward to many more great things ahead.

However you celebrate the holidays, whatever your traditions or however your family looks – My warmest thoughts to each of you. My best to you in 2020, and I look forward to the New Year with you!

My very best,
Brendan
